FilingFocus for actuaries

Find any rate factor across filed manuals and pull it into a spreadsheet.

How actuaries use FilingFocus

Rate work needs the numbers behind the change: base rates, relativities, loss cost multipliers and the factor tables carriers file in their manuals. Rate pages are indexed on their own, so a factor can be found across every carrier’s manual and pulled out as data.

  • Filter rate filings by change

Requested and approved overall change by carrier, state and line, with effective dates and disposition.

  • Find current and historical rate manuals

Every filed edition of a carrier’s manual, so a factor can be tracked back through each revision.

  • Extract rate data from PDFs into a CSV

Relativities, LCMs, base rates and factor tables, pulled from the filed pages into a spreadsheet.

Turn nine rate manuals into one CSV

Name a factor and a market, and get it pulled from every filed manual into one table you can download.

The table is extracted from the filed pages, so every cell traces to a manual and edition.Illustrative example. Carrier names, figures and findings are fictional.

What the answer is built from

Overall rate change is a field on the filing summary, so filings can be filtered by requested and approved change before any manual is opened. Rate pages are indexed page by page and every filed edition of a manual is kept, so a factor can be found in the current manual and traced back through prior revisions.

Highlighted components are the ones actuaries use most.
