About FilingFocus

The team

FilingFocus is built by P&C underwriters, product and filings managers. We have underwritten commercial and personal lines, managed products, filed forms and rates in multiple states, answered objection letters, and built the systems that make that work searchable.

How it works

We ingest public P&C filings in 49 states and the District of Columbia. A complete filing can run to thousands of pages across cover documents, forms, rate and rule manuals, supporting exhibits and correspondence.

We break each filing into its components, and each component is indexed on its own, so you can quickly find what you need without navigating the entire filing.

A filing arrives as one bundle: a summary that holds the correspondence, then every attachment in the order it was filed. It is stored as separate components, each broken out and indexed on its own, so a search for forms, rate rules or objections never has to open the whole bundle. Forms carry an identifier that links them across filings.

Every form also gets a unique identifier, built from its number and edition, that follows it across every filing, company and group it appears in, so one lookup finds a form everywhere it has been filed.

Group, company, filing and form are each a starting point. Start from a form and see every filing it appears in, or start from a filing and read only the correspondence.Illustrative example. Carrier names, figures and findings are fictional.
Full-text search runs within one document type. A phrase searched in rate rules returns rule pages, not the hundreds of forms that use the same words.Illustrative example. Carrier names, figures and findings are fictional.

Data is stored across databases chosen for each job: structured filing records, page-level text search and vector indexes, so results come back in seconds across hundreds of millions of pages.

The FilingFocus Agent

The FilingFocus Agent is an AI agent built into the research product. It works from the same components and identifiers described above, so it can answer a question by searching one part of a filing at a time, show each step as it goes, and cite the documents behind its answer.

The same components and identifiers are exposed to the FilingFocus Agent. It searches one component at a time, says what it is doing, and cites the documents behind its answer.Illustrative example. Carrier names, figures and findings are fictional.
