ISO commercial excess forms

Overview

ISO's commercial excess program adds limits above a business's primary liability policies without broadening them. CX 00 01, the coverage form, pays ultimate net loss above the retained limit, follows the terms of the controlling underlying insurance and never gives broader coverage than that insurance, unlike the ISO umbrella form, CU 00 01, which has its own insuring agreements. Because it follows form, most endorsements add exclusions on top of the underlying terms: abuse or molestation (CX 21 93, CX 21 94), data breaches (CX 21 43), professional services (CX 21 20), cannabis (CX 21 79), PFAS (CX 21 97), exterior insulation and finish systems (CX 21 14), certified acts of terrorism (CX 21 33) and pollution, with exceptions for building heating equipment and hostile fire (CX 21 04). Others limit coverage to a designated premises or project (CX 21 10) or fit it to claims-made underlying coverage, with a retroactive date (CX 27 00) and an extended reporting period (CX 27 01).
